The Hollywood writers’ strike is officially over. On September 26, 2023, the Writers Guild of America and the AMPTP (Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers) agreed.
The WGA’s board of directors and its members approved the agreement on September 28, 2023.
The new deal includes a minimum pay increase of 5% upon contract approval, with more increases in 2024 and 2025.
Writers will also get additional payment based on how many people watch their work online.
The deal also has other improvements for writers’ working conditions and pay.
The strike lasted 148 days and was Hollywood’s second-longest writers’ strike.

It caused many TV shows and movies to be delayed or canceled. The strike is over, and writers should return to work immediately.
TV shows and movies will start production again soon.
