Director Raja Krishna Menon said in an interview that the Dingko Singh biopic, which was supposed to star Shahid Kapoor, has been postponed.
Menon did not give specific reasons for this, but he mentioned that he and Shahid are still interested in working together in the future but are waiting for the correct script.
The biopic was announced in 2018 and was supposed to start filming in 2019, but it was delayed because of scheduling conflicts and the COVID-19 pandemic.
The delay of the Dingko Singh biopic could be better. It was a chance to share the inspiring story of an Indian boxer who triumphed over poverty and personal challenges to win a gold medal at the 1998 Asian Games.
Dingko Singh was the first Indian boxer to qualify for the Olympics in 2000.
Hopefully, Raja Menon and Shahid Kapoor will reconsider making the biopic in the future. Dingko Singh’s story is worth telling.
