Actress Ameesha Patel recently went to Ranchi Civil Court because of a case against her. The case was filed by a film producer named Ajay Kumar Singh from Jharkhand.
The case is from 2018 when Singh said that Patel didn’t give back 2.5 crore rupees that he gave her as an advance for a movie that didn’t happen.
Patel gave Singh a cheque for 2.5 crore rupees, but it didn’t work. Singh went to the police, and they registered a case against Patel under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act.
In August 2022, the Supreme Court stopped the criminal proceedings against Patel for cheating and breach of trust.
Still, they let the proceedings for the offenses under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act continue.
Patel gave herself up to the Ranchi Civil Court on June 11, 2023, and got bail. She has to go to court again on July 21, 2023.
Patel denies any wrongdoing and her lawyers say she can prove her innocence in court.
This is not Patel’s first involvement in a legal issue. In 2005, Mumbai Police arrested her for drug possession, but she was later found not guilty.
Ameesha Patel is a well-known Bollywood actress who has appeared in movies like “Gadar: Ek Prem Katha,” “Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai,” and “Humraaz.”
