The Election Commission of India will name actor Rajkummar Rao a national icon.
The announcement was made on October 25, 2023, and the ceremony will occur on October 26, 2023. Rao was chosen for this honor because of his excellent performance in the 2017 film Newton.
In the movie, he played a government clerk responsible for conducting a fair election in troubled areas of Chhattisgarh.
The film was successful and won the National Award for Best Feature Film in Hindi.
